How Does Acne Form?

A block of hair follicles will cause acne. Hair follicles are small holes in your skin that allow individual hair grows out of.Hair follicles have sebaceous glands attached to them. These glands have the purpose of lubricating the hair and the skin to stop it from completely drying out. By producing an oily substance called sebum, your skin stays protected.

However, when the glands produce too much sebum, it may become a problem:Dead skin cells and sebum mixes and form a blockage in the follicle.

The plugged follicle then bulges. Forming what can be observed as a whitehead or a blackhead. The harmless bacteria that usually live on the skin may then infect the plugged follicle. The infection forms what we see as acne.

What Contributes to Acne?

Long exposure to sunlight may make your skin more sensitive. The sebaceous glands may produce more sebum in attempt to protect your skin.Which in return, results in acne.

Sometimes, clothing items and accessories that place pressure on our skin may also cause acne. Items such as headbands, backpacks, or even tight clothing may cause our follicles to react.

It is also more common for women to have acne than men as adults. Hormonal changes during different stages of life often leads to adult acnes. For instance, acne growth during periods and pregnancies affects many women.

Scarring and Acne?

As mentioned, acne is a form of infection. The affected area of skin is often not only damaged on the surface, but also damages the tissues beneath the area. Scarring causes the skin texture to become visibly rough when the scars are shallow or deep.

Other times, the scars may instead raise above the surface of surrounding skins. This is caused when too much collagen is formed during the healing processes.

Regardless of the type of scars, acne scars are highly noticeable and can persist for years.

Treatment for Acne Scars

While there are home or traditional remedies for acne scars, newer treatments are proven to be much more effective at removing acne scars. Available treatment includes:

Chemical Peel

Chemical Peel is one of the proven treatment methods that can improve the appearance and pigmentation of the affected skin. As acne scars often comes with darken spot, the scars often stand out. While the name “chemical” may be off-putting, the chemical used are not only well-tested and safe, but also highly effective in restoring original tone of the skin. The substances used are often from natural plants, including willow tree and bilberries.

Overall, Chemical peeling is a procedure that regenerate normal skin. Via the treatment, the area of skin scarred by acnes will be reactivated so that new skin resurfaces. Progress is usually noticeable within a few days of applications.

Laser Treatment

Laser treatment is another well-proven method in countering not only acne scars, but damaged tissues in general. The laser targets water in the tissue scarred by acne. The treatment takes courses over multiple sessions. We focus on a fraction of the whole scarred area to avoid pain and new damages for each session.

When the procedure is applied during each session, the laser creates microscopic tunnels in the said tissue. The whole process is done with high precision and without any burning sensation. Over time, new regular tissue will be able to surface via these tunnels. Ultimately, your body’s natural healing process will be reactivated. You will be able to recover your original pigmentation and skin texture. The treatment has little to no downtime.

Dermaroller Treatment

Microneedling is a dermalroller procedure that uses micro needles to create small tunnels on the scarred skin. Through the new small tunnels, new collagen will be formed and new tissues can be generated.

Here at the Artistry Clinic, we apply a more-advanced version of Microneedling. Our microneedling has integrated Radio Frequency(RF). The devices we use send high-intensity RF energy into the targeted tissue through the micro-needles. This ensures the area for treatment receives a uniformed warming effect that is effective than traditional Dermaroller Treatments. Your skin will receive a huge nit even boost in generating collagen. This means that the skin being treated will have a much more balanced pigmentation and renewed texture after the treatments.

If necessary, the treatment can be couple with dermal fillers to achieve results with no downtime.

We Can Help You Regain Unscarred Skin

The treatments mentioned above can even be combined to reduce the downtime of recovery. These procedures are also painless.
